A productive cardiovascular and metabolic research team in the Divisions of Molecular Medicine and Cardiology, Departments of Anesthesiology and Medicine, University of California Los Angeles (https://labs.dgsom.ucla.edu/cAI/pages/publications) is currently recruiting China Scholarship Council (CSC)-funded exchange PhD students and A visiting scholar .
A PhD in biomedical sciences or related disciplines is required for the exchange scholar positions. Previous training and experiences in the following research areas are preferred:
1) mechanistic studies of cardiac injury and remodeling in response to various insults including ischemia reperfusion injury (I/R) and pressure overload; proficiency in ex vivo and in vivo I/R models in mice preferred;
2) mechanistic studies of hypertension, pulmonary hypertension, aortic aneurysms and aortic dissections, and diabetic vascular complications/impaired wound healing;
3) mechanistic studies of metabolic regulations involving adipogenesis, mitochondrial function, skeletal muscle function and exercise physiology; and mechanistic studies of obesity and metabolic syndrome;
4) mechanistic studies of vascular progenitor cells (circulating, residential or BM-derived) in vascular pathophysiology;
5) mechanistic studies of ion channel regulations and other pathways of arrhymogenesis using ex vivo and in vitro techniques including electrophysiology.
