随着国内疫情好转，大多数中国驻外大使馆于六月底七月初相继发布通告，免除申请M、F字签证原本所需要的PU邀请函，更换为中国境内邀请单位或个人出具的邀请函。但仍有部分如驻俄罗斯等大使馆申请M字签证依旧需要PU邀请函。
With the improvement of the epidemic in China, most Chinese embassies in foreign countries issued a notification at the end of June and beginning of July, exempting the PU invitation letter originally required for M and F visas and replacing it with an invitation letter issued by an inviting entity or individual in China. PU邀请函全称为外国人入境来华邀请函，是疫情期间中国政府针对部分急需回国从事商务或复工复产活动的外籍人士而特别审批的一种邀请函。拿到邀请函之后外籍人士可以向中国驻外大使馆/签证中心申请新的M字签证入境。PU邀请函属于M字签证中要求中方企业制作的一种比较官方、正式的邀请函，如需办理，需要在国内的外事局申请，并传真给境外被邀请人供其申请来华商务签证。
A PU invitation letter, known as an invitation letter for foreigners to enter China, is a type of invitation letter specially approved by the Chinese government for some foreigners who urgently need to return to China for business or to resume work and production activities during the epidemic. After receiving the invitation letter, foreigners can apply for a new M visa to enter the country at the Chinese Embassy/Visa Centre abroad. The PU invitation letter is one of the more official and formal invitations that Chinese companies are required to produce for the M-visa.
PU邀请函申请流程：

1. 邀请单位按要求详细、真实地准备好所需材料，邀请函申请模板可咨询当地外事办公室。
1. The inviting unit prepares the required documents in detAIl and truthfully as required, and the invitation letter application template can be consulted with the local foreign affairs office.
2. 联系当地外事办公室或服务中心，提交申请材料，然后等待部门预审和受理。
2. Contact the local foreign affairs office or service centre, submit the application documents and then wait for the department to pre-screen and accept the application.
3. 当地外事办公室一般会从材料提交当日起数个工作日，完成审查受理公司提交的材料，期间会需要公司配合审核检查。
3. The local foreign affairs office will normally take a few working days from the date of submission to complete the review and acceptance of the documents submitted by the company, during which time the company will be required to cooperate with the review and inspection.
4. 当地外事办公室批准后，将上述所有材料提交市级外事办公室。市外事办公室会根据公司的实际情况，再次进行审核，之后填写《邀请确认函》，并提交到省级外事办公室审核。
4. After approval by the local foreign affairs office, all the above documents will be submitted to the municipal foreign affairs office. The municipal foreign affairs office will then review the company's actual situation and complete a Letter of Confirmation of Invitation, which will be submitted to the provincial foreign affairs office for review.
5. 省级外事办公室在收到提交资料后，在规定地工作日内审核确认后下发PU邀请函确认书，将邀请确认书送回市级外事办公室。
5. After receiving the submitted documents, the provincial foreign affairs office will issue the PU Invitation Letter Confirmation after reviewing and confirming them within the stipulated working days, and send the Invitation Confirmation Letter back to the municipal foreign affairs office.
6. 办理PU邀请函的公司到市外事办公室领取《PU邀请函确认书》原件，以邮寄或者传真的方式交到签证申请人的手上，方便其申请签证时使用。

3. PU邀请函一般有效期为3个月，过期无效。超出有效期仍要申请签证则需要单位重新申请PU邀请函。
